Filipino Tenor Mark Christian Bautista is emerging as a distinctive and expressive voice on the international operatic stage. A prize winner in vocal competitions, his accolades include 1st Prize at the Festival Singing Competition (Dean & Chadlington Summer Music Festival), the Dvořák Society Prize at the Emmy Destinn Young Singers Award, and 2nd Prize at the Pendine International Voice of the Future at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. He has also been a finalist in the K‑GAGOK Superstar Competition (KBS, Seoul) and the XX Certamen Nuevas Voces of the ASAO in Seville, as well as a semi‑finalist at the Renata Tebaldi International Voice Competition.

Bautista has performed across Asia, the UK, and Europe, appearing at major venues including Glyndebourne, Grange Park Opera, Barbican Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, KBS Hall, Lotte Concert Hall, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Since 2023, he has been a seasonal artist at the Glyndebourne Festival, singing regularly with the Glyndebourne Chorus and covering roles such as Vierter Knappe (Parsifal) and Dr. Caius (Falstaff), in addition to serving as a tenor soloist for various concerts of the season.

In the 2026/27 season, Bautista returns to the Glyndebourne Festival as a member of the Chorus for Tosca, Il Turco in Italia, and Billy Budd, while also covering Spoletta (Tosca) and Brighella (Ariadne auf Naxos). He also joins Scottish Opera for Beethoven’s Fidelio, singing Prisoner 1 with the Chorus of Fidelio.

His operatic repertoire centres on the full‑lyric tenor canon, with roles including Alfredo (La traviata), Rodolfo (La bohème), Tiberge (Le Portrait de Manon), Harlequin (Fête galante), and Raimondo (I due timidi). He has also performed scenes from La rondine, Roméo et Juliette, L’elisir d’amore, L’heure espagnole, Die tote Stadt, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Il barbiere di Siviglia.

An alumnus of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama Opera Course, where he studied under Professor Susan Waters, Bautista has been supported by Herbert & Theresie Lowit Memorial Scholarship, The Sally Cohen Opera Scholarship, The Dow Clewer Foundation Scholarship, The Elizabeth Sweeting Award, Senior Choral Scholarship of the St. Leonard’s Church, Help Musicians UK, The Guildhall School Trust, Ann Driver Trust Scholarship and The Kathleen Trust. In 2024, He was selected as a Bursary recipient in the International Opera Awards by the Opera Awards Foundation.
